Stakeholder meeting in Puglia region, Italy

Oct 24, 2013

The Euro-Mediterranean Centre on Climate Change (CMCC) and Puglia Region Mediterranean Service organised the WP5 stakeholder meeting “Indicators to support planning for the management and protection of waters and coastlines in Puglia, in view of climate change.”

The aim of the workshop was to engage institutions, organisations and local agencies in the formulation of decision support tools for adaptation to climate change in Puglia. The meeting was held in Bari at the headquarters of the Regional Mediterranean Department.

Presentations were made by Giulia Galluccio of CMCC; Nicola Ungaro of the Puglia Regional Agency for Environmental Protection; Sandro Fiore of CMCC; and Monia Santini of CMCC.

The OrientGate pilot study being carried out in Puglia has as its objective the assessment of the climate change–related vulnerability of water resources and coastal areas, and the related risks from extreme weather events. The pilot study will investigate a representative set of possible climate scenarios for the period 1970 to 2070, starting from known past and present conditions.
