Widening dialogue on river basin management

Jun 7, 2013
On June 5–7, 2013, an international roundtable on the water and energy nexus in transboundary basins in South Eastern Europe was held in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The event was organised by the German Ministry of Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, the Regional Cooperation Council, the Global Environment Facility, the International Waters Learning Exchange and Resource Network (IW:LEARN), and the Global Water Partnership (GWP) Mediterranean.

The roundtable brought together practitioners and decision makers from SEE in fields related to water resources management in order to identify areas of cooperation between water users and producers of hydropower. The aim is to widen dialogue on the water, energy and food nexus in SEE and to introduce related considerations into the river basin management framework.
